Biobanking Core

The PenNSAM Biobanking Core collects, stores, manages and distributes biospecimens collected under Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved protocols related to nutrition studies. The Biobank houses -80C freezers and multiple liquid nitrogen tanks for cryopreservation of live cells. Specimens routinely stored include frozen and fixed tissues, lymphocyctes (LPL’s), intestinal epithelial cells, plasma and serum blood samples, mononuclear cells (PBMC’s) and bodily fluids (urine and stool).
